The Superfund site I have chosen to examine is the Federal Aviation Administration William J. Hughes Technical Center Atlantic City International Airport, New Jersey. The area was first developed in the 1930’s as a Naval Air Station and has since been managed by different federal government agencies now managed by the FAA. The site was discovered in 1984 while the EPA was testing for potential contamination sources of the Atlantic City Reservoir. There are now 32 areas of concern located within the 5,000 acre site. These AOC's are currently contained with no contaminants entering the public water supply. The cleanup process is still ongoing with several of the sites requiring no further action. The cleanup process is being funded through the FAA’s budget as stipulated in an Interagency Agreement developed in 1993.
